Built for the nikah, not the scroll.
HalalRishta started with a simple frustration. Every dating app on our phones treated marriage like a side feature. Filters were shallow, profiles were photo dumps, and the culture pushed casual connections we weren't interested in. Muslims deserve a tool that takes their intention seriously.
So we built one. From the onboarding questions to the moderation rules, every decision optimises for the same thing: helping a Muslim man and a Muslim woman find each other for nikah. Nothing more, nothing less. The deen comes first, the algorithm comes second.

Live face verification before any user appears in Discover. Catfishing isn’t a moderation problem — it’s a non-starter.

Five chats at a time. Limited compliments per week. We will not turn marriage-seeking into an infinite-scroll game.

Profiles include intention timelines, family expectations, and the option to involve a wali. We see the rishta, not just the rishta-seeker.

Is HalalRishta really only for marriage?+
Yes. Using it for anything else — casual dating, friendship, networking — is against our Terms and grounds for a ban. We don’t exist to be ambiguous about this.
How does verification work?+
During onboarding you record a short live selfie with your phone’s front camera. Our on-device face detection (Google ML Kit) confirms it’s a real face, then a moderator reviews the photo against your profile photos. The whole thing usually takes under 24 hours.
Is the app free?+
The core experience is free. We may introduce optional perks for Gold members (e.g. more compliments per week) but the basic ability to find a spouse will always be free.
Which sects and madhhabs are welcome?+
All of them. We surface sect as a filter so you can match with someone who shares your tradition, but we welcome Sunni, Shia, Sufi, Salafi, and non-sectarian Muslims alike. Respect is non-negotiable in either direction.
What happens if someone misbehaves?+
Report them. Our moderation team responds within 24 hours and bans confirmed violators permanently. You can also block any user instantly — they will never see your profile again.
Can I involve my wali?+
Absolutely. We encourage it. Your wali is welcome to be present in your chats and your final decisions — this is your rishta, not your private secret.
How do I delete my account?+
Settings → Delete account. The deletion is permanent and removes your profile, photos, messages, and matches across our infrastructure.
